Welcome Beautiful Human! Today we are diving into the reality of how I (Kyla) get life done! If you didn't see the video on Facebook that discusses some of this further, it is linked below ! My blog posts won't be fancy, they won't flow and they won't waist your time! My blog posts are direct and intentionally do not have the added fluff you will find in other blogs.
Focus is one of the main topics people come to me with issues with in life and business sessions. They find that their days are waisted by inefficient schedules and routines. However, they are stumped on how to actually change that. There are a few tips I'm dropping here to improve your focus!
- Take responsibility for your actions. We have to be willing to be honest with ourselves. If our schedules are off and not working, we are quite literally the only people that can change that. I understand that many of us have kids and work and spouses, but the things WE do in a day even if they are for someone else, ARE our CHOICE!!!
- Environment is often key. If you find that you can't focus, look at your environment. Is it messy? Do you enjoy the mess? if you do cool leave it but if you don't, maybe consider creating a clean and mildly lit room for working. If you have a favorite scent or a particular music you enjoy, take responsibility for creating an environment that you truly enjoy.
- Begin to recognize when you get off track, instead of beating yourself up about it, celebrate that you quickly discovered you were off track and jump back into what ever it was you were supposed to be doing.
- Catch yourself over committing. Many of you who struggle with focus don't actually struggle with focus, you simply have over committed and literally do not have time to complete all of the tasks you have per day. If you have over committed, ask yourself what you can release and or ask for help doing. It is ok to say, hey I over committed and I need to take a step back from this. It is also ok to outsource and hire help or get free help from someone you know! You are allowed to get tasks done any way that fits your desired journey.
- Meditate!!!! I know this one seems to be one many don't want to take time out for. This can be done in 5 -15 minutes per day and is truly one of the best mind tools out there!
- Much of creating focus is repetition and re programming, which is not always easy! Don't expect yourself to change over night! Allow for mistakes and keep positive about this journey of discovering focus.
- Lastly, if you have not been tested for ADHD or ADD and you find that nothing ever seems to help you no matter what you do, I'd suggest seeking professional assessment as you may find you fall on the spectrum of ADHD or ADD. I bring this up because one choice that can be made is medication. I believe that everyone has the right to choose how they reach their goals and if that is something you believe you need, please seek the appropriate professional help.
